HR 2013 is basically here, just a few days to go. I’ll be speaking on Thursday at 1:00 pm, with a repeat session on Friday at 11:30 am. This year I am speaking about my company’s experience with integrating acquired companies that we purchased over the past several years. You’ll learn tips and tricks and go home with a few “goodies”, things that may help you as you go through your initial implementation, or as you work on mergers or acquisitions.

As a speaker, I’ll just remind you of a few things that you’ll hear about throughout the week. Please keep your cell phone on silent during presentations. Also, please hold your questions to the end of the presentation, there’s always ample time for questions. This next item is important-please fill out an evaluation form. I’d love to tell you some sort of joke about only submitting good reviews, but the reality is any feedback is ultimately good feedback, as it can help a speaker to improve. So take the time to fill out that review!

The next thing I’ll talk about is the question of leaving the room early. I remember the first conference I ever went to. I was stunned to see people walking out part way through the session. Getting over that “shock”, and presenting for several years, I now have a different opinion-you or your employer has paid for this conference, and if the session you are in isn’t what you thought it would be, you should definitely find another session that better suits your needs. So I personally take no offense to those who choose to leave, although I’d always encourage you to stay….who knows what you might learn.

One thing I’ll be doing differently this year is providing my twitter name (@SAP_Hr_Guy) at the beginning of my sessions and then reading the “question tweets” and answering them. There are certainly plenty of people that have great questions, but don’t feel like they want to raise their hands.  Verbal questions will be answered first, but I’ll take the time to respond to all the questions.

I look forward to seeing everyone next week, keep reading the blog, updates to follow through the week. Don’t forget to follow me on twitter (@SAP_HR_Guy) and to find out more information about SAP HR 2013 click here.
