Snapping Pivot Points in VEA

When creating a visual work instruction, I sometimes need to move the pivot point of an object to a new location in order to make the animation work properly.  There is a feature in Visual Enterprise Author that makes this process easy and accurate. When using the Move or Rotate Pivot Point tool in the Tool Assistant you have the option of using the Snap Settings Feature.

Once you have toggled the Snap Settings feature to “On” you can use the filter settings to snap the Pivot Point to various points on the object including but not limited to:

  • Midpoint of a Plane
  • End point of an edge
  • Midpoint of an edge
  • Center point of an Arc

After selecting the new pivot point location the Snap Settings feature will toggle to off.

I hope this feature will be useful for those of you having to re position your pivot points.  Happy Snapping! 🙂
