This is important to know about all settings in option tab of category builder.

What is it?

The Options part of the category scenario allows you to determine in more detail how the category is built and used, and it will provide default settings which are “inherited” by the Reporting ID and the consolidation definition and logic.

The following subtabs are available:

·         Journal entries

·         Data entry

·         Transaction currencies

·         Opening balances

·         Restrictions

·         Changes to scope

·         Changes to consolidation method

Journal entries

This will enable you to define how CMJE’s are viewed by the category.

·         Authorize replacement of journal entries: this allows the user to change a manual journal entry at any time, before or after posting (except for when the CMJE is protected).

·         Require reversal of journal entries: once the CMJE is posted, it is no longer possible to change it. The CMJE will need to be reversed, and a new CMJE with the changed numbers needs to be set up.

Note: the above two options are only available if the option Central manual journal entries is checked/switched on.

Note: the above two options are mutually exclusive

·         Central manual journal entries: when this option is checked, it is possible to enter central manual journal entries for this category scenario.

Note: selecting this option has an impact on other parts of the Category Builder – you will be able to select various options for account families, flow behaviour, calculations and controls.

·         Adjustment in package: this determines if you are able to enter data into packages to Audit IDs which have level R (local adjustment Audit IDs). Once you have selected this, you will need to decide:

By manual journal entry – this means that in order to enter data to local adjustment Audit IDs, you will need to create a journal in the package itself.

o   In schedules – this means that you can use the standard data entry schedules to enter data to Audit IDs other than the Original Package Audit ID.

Note: the Original Package Audit ID – the Audit ID that has level S – is always available for data entry in packages, and you can only enter data into it using data entry schedules. If you want to be able to enter data into other Audit IDs in the package, you will need to select this option.

Apply package rules: this option is only available if you have selected Adjustment in Packages / By Manual Journal Entry. It allows you to include separate rules for package calculations.

Data entry

Settings on this tab will largely be carried over to the settings in the Package tab of the Reporting ID (and from then to the RU Organiser).

·         Integrate zero balances: this determines whether zero balances will or will not form part of the preconsolidated data upon integration.

Transaction currencies

The settings for transaction currencies determine how these will be treated during the conversion part of the consolidation.

Opening balances

Settings on this tab will largely be carried over to the settings in the Package tab of the Reporting ID (and from then to the RU Organiser).

Manage the opening and closing flows: These settings will be used in the consolidation for processing the opening balances as selected in the Opening Balances tab of the Consolidation definition.

Restrictions

Settings on this tab will largely be carried over to the settings in the Package tab of the Reporting ID (and from then to the RU Organiser).

The specifications for the data entry restrictions will determine where in the database the data entry restrictions will be applied.

Changes to scope

Settings in this tab are used during consolidation to determine how data from incoming companies, outgoing companies, mergers etc. will be treated during consolidation, and where automated bookings will end up. It is closely related to the settings in the scope itself – ownership percentages, and comparisons between the opening scope and the current scope.
