NRF 2013 Theater Session: Offering Shoppers the Products They Want, When They Want, and at Reasonable Prices
During NRF13, Mr. Paulo Vassalo, Manager of IT Innovation and IT Business Relationships for Marisa Lojas, a Brazilian women’s fashion retailer, shared their story behind the successful implementation of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions to address IT challenges and merchandise lifecycle-planning needs. Paul explained how SAP technology unified the planning process and balanced inventory levels throughout their 300 stores.
Marisa Lojas wanted to offer their customers the products they wanted, when they wanted them, and at prices they could afford. Focused on Brazil’s middle class, Marisa Lojas knew that in order to provide that, they needed to streamline their planning process to stay relevant in such a diverse and competitive market that is women’s fashion.
The Choice: With 300 stores worldwide, Maris needed to be able to identify demographics specific to each store and provide merchandise lifecycle planning that was specific to each location. SAP ERP provided flexible solutions to work with the customer, while guaranteeing stores would never be over, or under stocked. IT challenges are also met with SAP ERP solutions, offering specific business units the capabilities to address and prevent any potential inventory crises.
By using SAP ERP, Marisa Lojas saw the number of stores and sales dramatically increase over the past three years. SAP solutions allowed Marisa to design a merchandise lifecycle plan that encompassed the vast consumer base that the retailer services.
