Hello SAP Mobile Platform Community Members:

Reflecting back to the days when I was a professional services engineer (please don't ask me how long ago), one of the greatest challenges for me was to continue my current workload while staying on top of my technology area game. As is every consultant's goal, one of my career objectives was to remain relevant in the IT job market. As far as I can tell from the numerous discussions with many of you, this hasn't changed at all. In fact, in the area of mobility, the pressure of staying relevant is even more greatly felt. We can all agree that experience and very good training are key to sustaining a high degree of relevance in our technology area.

However, a little focused assistance can go a long way in our ability to filter and assess what is relevant on our way towards gaining some degree of credibility/credential. Certification, as well as many years of experience, is one of the means by which employers and our own peers can easily evaluate our capability and relevance in the market. In other words, certification is one of those building blocks we access to move us along the attainment of a verifiable set of credentials that can lead to a greater trust from our project team members, customers, and our current/future employers. In the IT industry, certification is a credential that many take very seriously. Of course, it cannot and will never replace solid experience and a focused training program. And it cannot since the pre-requisite for any exam is either experience, training and most often both.

Now, you may be asking at this point in time: What is the purpose of all this? Well, as the SAP Mobile Platform Education Portfolio Manager and Certification Program Lead at SAP, I have been listening to your challenges, concerns and requests. In order to respond back to the larger community with something tangible, valuable and useful, I am offering you some tools to help you achieve your professional goals in SAP Mobility and maximize your time, concentrate your efforts, and remain focused on the requirements necessary for you to have a greater chance of achieving your certification in one or all of the SAP Mobile Platform exams. If you have been following SAP Mobile Platform education and certification offerings, you will also know that there are currently three associate level certification exams for SAP Mobile Platform, with a fourth exam on SAP Work Manager for SAP (formerly known as Syclo's SMART WM for SAP) coming soon this year.

So, let's get to the heart of this posting. Below, you will find three very detailed Readiness Guidelines for each exam. These study guidelines not only contain the topical areas for each exam, but also learning paths, each topical area weight, the expected cut score to pass each exam, and the topical area's related tasks - keep in mind that the tasks are identified activities that you should be able to perform within the topical area. This will allow you to at least assess your current strengths, identify any skill gaps, and, if applicable, know where you need to focus your training time and dollars. My chief objective is to enable you to better prepare for an exciting career with SAP Mobile Platform. Hope you find all this information useful and valuable. Now for the readiness guidelines!
