New LinkedIn Portal Group
We have now an official SAP branded SAP NetWeaver Portal LinkedIn group. This group already exists since October 2008 und has more than 2000 members. Recently it became the official LinkedIn Community Group for SAP NetWeaver Portal, as the ownership and the community management of the group was taken over by the Portal Product Management team.
Join the group http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1002387&trk=hb_side_g and become a member.
We will mainly use this group to give you latest updates on our Portal portfolio, about events, news and educational content. And we would like to discuss with you about the product. As a member of this group, you can use it to ask questions, share your expertise, start and comment on discussions and build your reputation and professional network. We are looking forward to your participation in the LinkedIn group of SAP NetWeaver Portal and meeting you there.
How Can SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal and Mobile Enablement Support Governments?
Not that long ago voice and face to face communication were the primary channels for citizens to interact with their government, now you see Web, Mobile and Social channels growing rapidly at the expense of the more traditional channels. Citizens are also demanding better and more convenient service utilizing these newer channels.
In some parts of the world mobile is already the primary interface for citizens to access the Web, while for many citizens globally mobile access is the only method that citizens have for accessing the Web.
Read this blog by Paul O’Sullivan from SAP Public Sector “How can SAP and the cloud help Government’s with their channel shift to web, social and mobile?” describing how SAP solutions and products can support governments. In the coming weeks Paul will publish a series of blogs and he will also talk about SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal and how it can be used by governments as a low TCO cloud based portal offering with mobile consumption options.
He will also explain how SAP Portal mobile enablement will enable governments to build a single SAP Portal that can be consumed on different devices. This will enable them to accelerate productivity and collaboration by extending the reach of their portal content, applications, and documents to employees and citizens – on multiple mobile devices, anywhere.
You will be informed about the Paul’s blogs in the next editions of the Portal Newsletter blog.
Cloud Blog Series
The developers of the Cloud Portal team will share with you a series of blogs on technical aspects of Cloud Portal. You can read the introduction blog of the series: Tech Tips and Tutorials for SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal, which you can use as the entry point for the complete series. It will be updated each time a new piece of information is published on SCN.
As an appetizer have a look at these 2 blogs which were already published recently:
- How to Develop an OpenSocial Widget on top of Cloud Portal with Site Context Feature
- Using SAP Jam Widgets in SAP NetWeaver Cloud Portal
How to Develop a Mobile Portal Application?
Since the release of SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 Service Pack 8 with the smartphone and tablet framework pages, the enhanced mobile workspaces and mobile homepage offering, we were asked very about the best approach to develop the mobile applications that will be hosted in the Mobile Portal. In this blog Aviad Rivlin tries to answer this question and guides you through the different available approaches: SAP NetWeaver Portal Mobile Application Development.
And you will soon come to recognize the advantages of the mobile enablement – whatever mobile technology approach you take – native or web – SAP Portal can handle both.
Enterprise Workspaces Blog Series
The development team of Enterprise Workspaces started a blog series on the technical aspects of enterprise workspaces to show the benefits and the ease of use and maintenance. Read the first blog of the series: A Deep Dive into Enterprise Workspaces. This blog is updated each time a new post is added, so you can use it as the entry point for the complete series.
Meanwhile lots of interesting blogs were published on SCN and there are more to come. You can find information on how to create a module template from an iView, how to develop a basic enterprise workspace module, how to develop a custom content provider, there are blogs on the tablet experience of Enterprise Workspaces, the mobile homepage and much more.
