The SAP HANA Use Case repository is a great resource for professors and students to learn the many ways SAP customers use SAP HANA to re-imagine their business models and gain real-time insight to drive competitive advantage.
As an example, twenty five students and seven professors representing five University Alliances member schools in Toronto, Ontario, Canada attended “A Game Changer: In-Memory Computing Using The SAP HANA® Platform” at SAP Toronto on January 15, 2013. I shared challenges and opportunities with “Big Data,” and then used SAP HANA Use Cases to illustrate how organizations are re-defining how they plan, execute, and analyze their businesses using in-memory computing with the SAP HANA platform.
Students and professors shared their enthusiasm for SAP HANA afterward. “Thank you for explaining the business context around big data and in-memory computing, and how SAP HANA is enabling dramatic changes. The examples with MKI for genomic cancer research, and Nongfu Spring for real time supply network simulation and demand planning, really illustrate the impact of SAP HANA on business!”

(2) Retail – Nongfu Spring
Excellent example of using HANA for real time supply network simulation and demand planning. Nongfu Spring reduced the time to run its transportation plan from 2 days to 200 seconds with SAP HANA. This improved on-time delivery and reduced transportation cost 35%.

(3) Telecommunications – T-Mobile
As a major wireless phone service provider, T-Mobile uses SAP HANA to understand, message, and market to its customers more effectively across millions of daily interactions. Their marketing department can get faster visibility on the uptake of promotional offers to:
