Syclo Blog >> How to Build the Mobile Business Case – Part 3
In the last article, we discussed how mobility delivers value for asset management. In this one, we will tackle how mobile helps field service and supply chain organizations. The following are illustrative business process example opportunities for mobility.
For field service organizations, corporate services get anytime access to business relevant information they need and provide approvals on the go. The sales team has anytime access to customer information to manage expectations and more importantly identify opportunities. The field service operations can see and exchange information such as their service orders, install base information and parts to get the job done right the first time. Not only do they become more efficient, their assignments can be optimized and they can consistently achieve their SLA. For instance improve first time rate by 20%, increase service orders tracked by over 30% and gain 40 min per technician per day.
For supply chain operations, you can proactively detect, sense and respond to manufacturing, service and supply chain changes. Don’t let inventory exceptions become issues. With mobile, your organization can better and more accurately decrease or eliminate reliance on “safety stock.” Storeroom visibility reduces the number of duplicate inventory items. This can lead to 3-5% inventory reduction. Also reduce data entry and travel time by 50% by doing things like receiving and record picks, count and receipts using mobile as well as eliminating double entry from warehouse and data entry clerks. This will also help you manage your inventory turns and reduce the inventory value by 15% or more. Reduce pick errors by at least 15-30% with transaction validation, handwriting deciphering errors and other fun scenarios.
I could keep going but we also understand that everyone has their own unique needs. The goal of this series was to show our readers that there are a wide range of value propositions your organization can gain from mobile. As a next step, I encourage you to work with someone from SAP and Syclo to build a before and after mobile business impact assessment. The SAP Value Engineering team is also a resource available.
