Question

SAPUI5 is SAP’s solution for building lightweight HTML5 applications. SAP NetWeaver Business Client is the standard environment for running SAP applications.

Do SAPUI5 applications run in NWBC?

Answer

SAPUI5 applications run in NWBC just like any other Web-based applications. They can be integrated in PFCG as a Web address.

Documentation on NWBC:

The SAPUI5 applications can be displayed in both NWBC for desktop and NWBC for HTML.

Of course, you have to carry out the usual configuration steps so that a UI5 application can run in the browser, for example configuring Gateway/reverse proxy.

Documentation on the UI Add-on for SAP NetWeaver:

Documentation on Gateway:

However, since an SAPUI5 application runs like any other application that can be accessed using a URL, it means that a certain amount of work is involved to ensure that they fulfill all SAP Product Standards such as security, session management, globalization and so on.

Do you have any information regarding using NWBC HTML for SAPUI5 applications that are using external gateway (hub) and web dispatcher?

What are configurations required for handling this scenario?

Is the log-off handled from all connected systems (external gateway, backend, dispatcher) in this case?
