Dear HCM Community,

I want to share some of my experiences with you and bring the ready made recipe for SAP HCM Consultants who often work on new dimensions of SAP HCM Sub-modules. This blog will help the consultant to easily available features/ functionalities/ usage available with the versions where the customer lies or if any customer wants to upgrade to add the new functionalities.

Regarding the HCM Space much new functionality are being released every now and then and to get us up-to date the blog would be in the finger tips of the consultants.

The business function’s user-friendly services support the recruitment process in your company, for example, with regard to identifying the most suitable candidates for the vacant jobs.

It replaces the previous Business Server Pages (BSP) interfaces with interfaces in Web Dynpro ABAP, the standard interface technology for SAP’s Web-based applications. This enables you to use the functions provided by SAP NetWeaver®, such as personalization of UI elements, configuration of the UI using a configuration wizard, and the modification-free enhancement concept.

For recruiters and recruiting administrators, this business function contains numerous enhancements on the user interfaces, optimizations of the processes, and new functions.

HCM_ERC_CI_3 You can use this business function to make the process of recruiting and hiring suitable applicants more efficient and to make it easier to work with SAP E-Recruiting.

The business function has the following advantages:

Functional enhancements of Applicant Tracking that support recruiters in their daily work

Functional enhancements of Talent Relationship Management (TRM), in particular through improved access to talent groups and simplified creation of TRM activities for one or more candidates

New worklists (queries in the dashboard) that recruiters can use as additional entry points in their daily work

New Restricted Recruiter authorization role

Workflow for approving the release of requisitions

Improvements in the search performance through changes to the indexing of data and functional enhancements of the search

Performance improvements of the candidate assignment list (as of release 604 SP06)

Lead Recruiter indicator in support groups that are relevant for Manager Involvement in SAP E-Recruiting. In this way, requisitions created from managers’ requisition requests can be initially processed by a recruiter from the support team.

Functional enhancements of Applicant Tracking that support recruiters in their daily work

Data overviews from the connected HR system for positions, organizational units, and jobs help recruiters to obtain the relevant information they require when creating a requisition.

A new registration process for external candidates improves the quality of the data in your Talent Warehouse. During registration and during the application process, unregistered external candidates now have to verify their e-mail address after entering their data, before they can complete their registration or submit their application.

New SOA services enable an advanced integration of SAP E-Recruiting with SAP ERP Human Captial Management (SAP ERP HCM) when hiring a candidate, in particular in connection with Talent Management and the processes for Talent Development. Now that the data is transferred automatically during the hiring process, it is no longer necessary for HR administrators to create the data for a new employee again when the employee is hired. This reduces administrative effort and possible sources of error.

HCM_ERC_SES_1 You can use this business function to enhance the search applications in SAP E-Recruiting and thus to obtain more precise search results. The new functions enable the recruiter and the succession planner to identify candidates with the required characteristics more efficiently in the Talent Pool. In this way, you can fill vacant jobs with suitable candidates more quickly or find successors for key positions. Candidates also benefit as they can find interesting employment opportunities more quickly and precisely.

Via the new search functions, users can use additional operators in search queries and can display an improved and more flexible result list.

Once you have activated the business function, SAP E-Recruiting uses the Search Engine Service (SES) as the interface to the search engine. Changing the previous interface over to SES improves the performance of the search and increases the stability.

Performance Appraisals HCM_OSA_CI_1 With this business function, you can use the improved functions of the cross-application Tool for Appraisals, Evaluations, and Surveys as well as a wide range of new features to optimize the appraisal processes in your enterprise. The business function has the following advantages:

It provides your enterprise’s managers and employees with user-friendly interfaces for efficiently and quickly recording and editing all the required information in a predefined Performance Management process. The settings required for the process that are already available in the system enable you to implement the application easily and in a time-efficient manner.

The application provides talent management specialists with user-friendly interfaces for creating and editing corporate goals and core values as well as assigning them to groups of people, such as organizational units.

It provides your enterprise’s managers an employees with user-friendly interfaces for convenient creation and editing of team goals as well as easy assignment of these goals to individual people, such as the employees in a team. It is also possible for employees to conveniently assign their individual goals to their organizational unit.

It enables managers to suggest a mandatory course (for example, one that is required to attain a certain goal) within the appraisal document.

Compensation Management HCM_ECM_CI_1 You can use this business function to simplify and accelerate the compensation planning and approval process, to facilitate the administration of compensation data, to benefit from added reporting capabilities, and to perform mass changes to employee records. In addition, you may leverage this business function to apply new rounding formulas and complete mass adjustments to compensation matrices.
The business function has the following advantages:
It delivers a new multilevel approval process to simplify the administration and execution of the compensation planning cycle. Using this process, managers can approve or reject the compensation planning of subordinates at any level, document and record the corresponding reasons, and perform other novel administrative functions.
It provides managers administrative support, based on workflow, to notify them that compensation planning has commenced, or that budgeted amounts have been submitted, approved or rejected by others.
It introduces new and enhanced reports that help users prepare, monitor and complete the compensation planning cycle with greater ease.
This way, administrators are able to define and use new rounding formulas that take into account the currency and payroll cycles of the employees in question. The resulting sums are easier for employees to understand. Because these formulas can be implemented en masse, administrative effort is reduced.
It also provides administrators flexibility in assigning employee currencies. By implementing a corresponding Business Add-In (BAdI), administrators can override the currency that is derived from the country that is implicit in the employee’s organizational assignment with another currency of their choice.
Furthermore, administrators can use this business function to enhance existing compensation matrices by adjusting their guideline values in relation to specified percentages. Administrators can therefore perform mass modifications of compensation amounts with increased convenience.
It provides additional Customizing settings that, among others, enable administrators to determine eligibility and guideline groupings in relation to compensation plans.
Integration
This business function is also used to enhance the Compensation Planning iView with a new column. In this column, you can see the appraisal results in text form along with links to employee appraisal documents. In order to use this enhancement, you are required to activate the Business Function HCM, Performance Management 01 (HCM_OSA_CI_1).

Managers and higher-level managers are provided with convenient and flexible user interfaces when planning compensation or when checking and approving compensation planning. The following are examples of what you can do with the interfaces:

Download compensation data as a local file and edit compensation data offline

The current budget is always available to managers during compensation planning. This applies even if, for example, an employee changes organizational units and the budget assigned to him or her is assigned to the new organizational unit.

Managers can call up global employees in Compensation Planning and process and evaluate their compensation-relevant data.

Managers can use the extended notification workflow to improve communication during the entire compensation process.

New BI content for evaluating data from Enterprise Compensation Management is available to talent management specialists. This allows talent management specialists to quickly compare and evaluate the compensation of talents.

The business function HCM, Cross Analytics (HCM_ANALYTICS_1) provides you with an overview of the analyses and benchmarking tools that are available as of enhancement package 5 for all processes for Personnel Administration, Talent Management, Enterprise Compensation Management, and SAP Learning Solution.

Learning Solution HCM_LSO_CI_1 You can use this business function to implement the extensive enhancements for SAP Learning Solution.

The enhancement of the concept by constructing individual courses in course programs makes it easier for you to combine a large number of courses with different delivery methods (for example, classroom training, WBT, online test) and, in doing so, optimize the course offering for learners. You can use the new course program to provide employees and external learners with a course offering in their Learning Portal that is suitable for their needs and activities in a flexible and timely manner.

Instructors and tutors can use the Web-based access to their portal roles to gain access to information and perform certain business processes.

If you create or use course content that conforms to AICC or SCORM2004 e-learning standards, these standards are supported.
