Objective: Install 7.20 kernel Linux Red Hat 5.3 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 3.5 Tikanga)
Working Environment: SAP ECC 6.0, Oracle
Original Kernel: 700 – 333 level

Important: the document conforms to the aforementioned environment. should take special care elsewhere. because there are other prerequisites. see note 1636252

0) to make full backup of files!. is better to double back.
1) Check current version and type of kernel
2) Download Kernel from SAP: 64-bit Unicode:

-Download the standalone versions of the database and dependent on the database (in this case oracle), Kernel Kernel part I and part II
-Download igs.
-Download dbatools.
-Download lib_dbsl (latest version of client library used by oracle oracle).
-Download new monitoring agent SAPHOSTAGENT

3) login as root
4) Create a backup of the current kernel: cp-pr / sapmnt / SID / exe / * / SIDkernel_orig
5) Compare the current kernel sizes and their respective support, must have equal sizes: du-sk / sapmnt / SID / exe /; du-sk / SIDkernel_orig
6) create a directory for the new kernel, in a file system with space available: mkdir newkernel
7) Copy the downloaded files to the folder /newkernel
8) Unzip the files. SAR  in the folder /newkernel (disregard this step SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR file is installed separately)
9) connected as <SID> adm
10) stop SAP: stopsap
11) saposcol stop, command: saposcol-k
12) kill all SAP processes
13) log in as root
14) delete or rename the exe directory: go to /sapmnt/SID/exe, then rm-rf *
15) install new monitoring agent (replaces saposcol):

– Copy the file to a temporary directory SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR example (/tmp/hostagent).
– Unzip sapcar-xvf SAPHOSTAGENT.SAR
– Install:. /saphostexec-install

SAP note: 1031096

16) copy the new kernel (kernel obviously referred to in section 8) To the /sapmnt/SID/exe: cp-pr / newkernel / * / sapmnt / SID / exe
17) Go to the kernel directory and execute the following:
cd / sapmnt / SID / exe
Then run:
. / SID
18) then go to the next instance directory and delete all (if more than one must be done for each):

– cd /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/<instance>/ exe
– rm-rf *

19) Now you should copy the binaries for all instances (if more than one must be done for each):

cd /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/<instance>/ work
sapcpe pf =/usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/profile/<instance profile>

20) as users <SID> adm, up instance and pray:

Known Bugs:

After changing the kernel you encounter this error in sapgui:

this means that you must install the package uuidd. seek help from a unix (in this case, install the package-1.39-20.el5.x86_64.rpm uuidd in Linux).
UUID daemon (uuidd) not found. Check SAP note 1391070
