Importing NWBC 4 into the SAP Setup Front end Installation Server

I’ve got Installation Server v and was trying to figure out how to get NWBC 4 imported so I could distribute it out the all the employees. I ended up having to ask SAP and they gave me the brilliantly simple answer and want to share it with everyone else if you use the installation server and if you’re planning to upgrade to NWBC 4 – especially since support for NWBC 3 is ending April 9, 2013.

The problem I had was that the NWBC 4 installation file was an exe file that when I tried to import, would get an error message. Here’s the solution I got from SAP that worked great.

You first need to extract the files to a suitable location before adding to the installation server.

1.) Create an empty folder.

2.) Start the installer in question with the additional parameter

(e.g. NWBC400_0-10011894.exe /extract=”New Folder”)

3.) The installer in question now extracts its content into the newly

created folder.

4.) Start NwSapSetupAdmin from your installation server and press the

“Import Products” button and then navigate to the setup subfolder

that has been extracted to the folder created in step 1.

5.) Follow the wizard and the product should be imported.
