As you already know from my previous blogpost Start Up Focus Program – the Israeli Chapter, the highlight of each cycle is the selection of participants for the next major SAP event. We started this very first cycle of Israeli SUF in last July, had a major milestone of presenting the draft Demos to SAP CTO Vishal Sikka in September, and, finally participated in the Global Demo Week in the end of October. I was the part of the SUF committee and can tell you, it was a tough-tough task to choose the winners out of dozens of demos we saw during 5 fourteen-hours days.
Finally, decisions were made, announcements sent and we found ourselves with a team of 25 amazing startups flying to Madrid from all over the globe. With training and dev support provided by SAP, over 50 live demos were developed by the startups within few month only. However, not all of them were able to participate in the event in person. Those demos were presented by SUF team at SUF Demo Booth just next to the main HANA Podium at SAPPHIRE pavilion on a variety of devices across 22 industries and 9 lines of businesses. The companies, who made it to the event in person, got the opportunity to meet bloggers, influencers, analysts, industry groups and even SAP customers. Startup representatives run sessions in TechEd area, got exposure in SAP Startup round table with analysts hosted by Amit Sinha and Irfan Khan, and were featured in highlight of the SAP Startup Focus program during Dr. Vishal Sikka’s keynote.
HANA Co-Innovation Lab Israel (COIL2), led by Mike Kemelmakher, supported 12 startups during the integration process and contributed 4 out of total 25 startups who participated in person from all global locations. C-B4, Flash Networks, Mobideo and Weissbeerger got to present their solutions at SAPPHIRE and TechED pavillions, were interviewed by the SAPPHIRE News team and met SAP Ventures representatives. Those companies, as well as PrimeQue, Senexx and Valire, who also created successful PoCs with HANA, but did not take part in SAPPHIRE in person, enjoyed the close attention of SAP IBU leads, SAP Account Executives and some of the major customers.
We are very proud to announce that HANA based solutions supported by COIL2 and provided by Valire and Mobideo are Generally Available on SAP HANA ONE Cloud (powered by Amazon) . Those solutions are accessible from the SAP HANA Marketplace that was launched by Vishal Sikka during his SAPPHIRE keynote.
It was my first SAPPHIRE event too. The whole experience was overwhelming. Imagine over 2,000 sessions, 968 speakers, and 96 exhibitors, nearly 75,000 people on site and online.
