On 28th November 2012, the researchers of both Center for Very Large Business Applications at Magdeburg and Munich got together at SAP AG in Walldorf. In the context of this meeting, the researchers presented their research topics to the scientific board, consisting of representants of SAP AG and professors of Uni Erlangen-Nuremberg, TU Munich and OvGU Magdeburg. The current research projects are versatile and cover the entire lifecycle of Very Large Business Applications. The speakers were (in chronological order):

  • Matthias Splieth (CVLBA Magdeburg):“Load Distribution in IT System Landscapes”
  • Manuel Wiesche (CVLBA Munich): “From Detecting Deviations to Preventing Shocks: The Value of IT for Management Control”
  • Bastian Kurbjuhn (CVLBA Magdeburg): “Business Simulations – VLBA Serious Games”
  • Dr. Suparna Goswami (CVLBA Munich):“Relational Antecedents to Information Visibility to Value Networks”
  • Sascha Bosse (CVLBA Magdeburg): “Estimation Non-Functional Properties of Service-Oriented IT System Landscapes”
  • Konrad Dongus (CVLBA Munich): “Contract design and its performance implications: An empirical analysis of IS outsourcing projects from a vendor’s perspective”
  • Markus Böhm (CVLBA Munich): “IT-related Challenges in Corporate Divestitures”
  • Christian Schulz (CVLBA Magdeburg):“Cloud Operations Management”
  • Johannes Hintsch (CVLBA Magdeburg): “Integrated Business Applications for the IT Service Industry”

The topics were intensively discussed, opportunities and synergy effects  – e.g. with similar research projects at SAP Research – have been highlighted. Every participant is looking forward to enjoying the next annual meeting in 2013!

    Great summary of our annual CLVBA meeting in Walldorf. Thanks to all of you for the constructive discussions and feedback.

    A special thanks goes to Heino Schrader (SAP), host of the VLBA event and our supervisors Prof. Dr. Krcmar (Technische Universität München) and Prof. Dr. Turowski (Universität Magdeburg) as well as to the VLBA board members.
