Insights into an Xcelsius file

Make a copy of your XLF file. Rename your Xcelsius file (.xlf file) into a .zip file and open it. You will see the below contents.

1) Xldoc– It contains the data in your spreadsheet

2) Document.xml-It contains the definitions of the components that are mapped.

3) Folder (a very long name)-It contains the pictures embedded in the file, like logos.

We can modify these files to change the server connection to point to a different server, modify the logos and even to change the color’s used in the Xcelsius file.

After these changes, just save them and rename it back to an XLF file.

I believe, it is better to do the same from the xcelsius designer interface only which minimizes chance of mistakes and the corruption of the file.

However, I've found it useful to:

      1. Get the images from a xlf file.

      2. Open a xlf file created in newer version that I have. If any newly introduced feature(not applicable in the version I have) is NOT used, then changing the version in Document.xml allows me to open the file and use it without any trouble in older xcelsius version as well.
