A successful mobilization strategy is just as much about who as what …who should you get involved, from the very beginning? Excitement aside, the basics still apply. You can begin to ask some fundamental questions.
- Do you have the rights skills?
- Clear prioritization?
To overcome this inertia, you’ll first need to have some sense of where you’re going to find value from mobility in your organization. Many of you likely already have a good sense of where the value will come from. If not, you can get a primer from one of my previous posts about the 3 areas of opportunity to consider.
Once you’ve identified the value, then the next critical step is to develop a road map to help you bridge the gap between your strategic thinking to your more tactical considerations. You’ll need to take into account the architecture you have right now and what you may need to add or extend. Ultimately, you’ll need to answer the questions of what you need to build and what needs to be in place to do that.
Then, you’ll need to bring in the appropriate teams. So, who should be involved? Obviously, the IT and architecture teams will be pulled in. But, don’t forget the IT security team. The unique considerations of mobile devices makes this team an important contributor to your road map build. There are likely other roles and teams that could be involved.
