SAP NetWeaver discontinues dual-stack implementations as of release 7.4
With Release 7.4 SAP NetWeaver discontinues dual-stack implementations
in general following a similar approach of the SAP Business Suite. Customers are recommended
to split their dual stack deployments whenever possible. The following paper describes
the technological background of SAP NetWeaver dual-stack implementations
in more detail and provides guidelines and tools how to split your dual-stack environment:
Hi Karl,
nice blog, thank you.
Is 7.4 already in GA or when does it arrive ? Or should be not be lazy and check the PAM 🙂
Thanks,
Andy.
Hi Andy,
valid question. SAP NetWeaver 7.4 is not released at this point in time.
In our roadmap presentations at TechEd in Las Vegas and Madrid we positioned
7.4 as a compatible successor release of 7.31 which will be used by the next
enhancement package of the Suite and by the Suite on HANA products (Jim Snabe
talked about CRM on HANA at Sapphire two weeks ago). 7.4 itself is defined as an enhancement package and clearly follows enhancement package rules.
Rampup activities are planned for next year (subject to change of course).
Regards
Karl
thanks Karl.
Hi Karl,
thanks for your post, but it`s slightly misleading, as there are a few important exceptions:
1. SAP PI 7.4 is still supported as a dualstack installation
2. SAP Solution Manager dualstack installation could be upgraded to 7.4
Regards
Andreas
Hi Andreas,
PI is an exception to the overall rule, that is true, but we offer hints how to move to a single stack PI deployment.
Currently there is no roadmap communicated regarding Solution Manager on 7.4 so
pls stay tuned.
Regards
Karl
