Boost TM – EWM – EM integration using SAP Visual Business

With the new releases Transportation Management 9.0, Extended Warehouse Management 9.0, and Event Management 9.0, it is now possible to boost the integration story using SAP Visual Business 2.0 to show geographical relevant information on a geo-map. All 3 applications integrate this component for their very own use case. While SAP TM 9.0, the frontrunner in this area, uses it mainly in a transportation network master data cockpit and for interactive planning, SAP EWM 9.0 makes the shipping and receiving part of the application more visible by showing routing options on the geo-map. Last but not least on board, SAP EM 9.0 is now capable of enhancing events with geo-coordinates and hereby adding another layer of information for the user by putting the events into a geographical relation.

By using SAP Visual Business 2.0 for these distinct use cases, not only are those covered, but the door is now wide open for enhanced integration scenarios between the 3 applications. A short list of SAP Visual Business 2.0 features:

– Free choice of GIS vendor for providing geo-map content
– Seemless integration into standard SAP user interfaces
– Same configuration for all using applications
– Strong enhancement capabilities

Speaking of possible integration scenarios. SAP TM and EWM can share the same master data: Why not bring this together and use the Transportation Network Cockpit for showing the tight coupling? SAP TM and EM are already integrated on the data layer. Now it is possible to use Visual Business for more transparent processes.

      Hello Marcus Zahn,

How are you doing? Excellent post.

I would like a general documentation of all the integration interfaces between the TM-EWM-TM module, do you have any document where you can show me these points?

      Thanks!

      Whelton
