We are using the favorite word from Jim Snabe to describe our day 2 at Madrid – Fascinating! Today was a packed day for SAP NetWeaver Gateway and Duet Enterprise team at SAPPHIRE and TechEd. I only picked some highlights to share with you.
The lecture CD204 – SAP Netweaver Gateway and OData in detail presented by Andre Fischer, Andreas Hoffner had close to 120 participants and the audience loved it. The session gave an overview of the capabilities of OData and SAP NetWeaver Gateway and how to create an entity data model based on an example. The session also switched from theory to practice and walked the participants through a day in live of a SAP NetWeaver Gateway developer from building an OData service all the way to testing the service and utilizing error logs for troubleshooting.

For those that would like to test the service themselves. Here is the link to the ES Workplase where it is deployed.
Simen Larsen-Frivoll from Pearl Consulting also joined our presentation today. They have been named best partner in Norway for all the years except one since their founding year 2006. Simen presented several customer projects that have been implemented by Pearl this year.
* B2C app for Norsk Gjenvinning (http://www.norskgjenvinning.no/English )
Simen showed the application live which was built for Norsk using NetWeaver Gateway technology to improve the process of container management. Due to the complicated process for container management (ordering -> changing content -> emptying -> pick-up container) , the original manual processing at Norsk was very error prone.
This project was done at Low effort, Low risk with Great results! Per Simen “This is what we achieved with SAP Netweaver Gateway. We really was able to think more about what we were going to build instead of infrastructure and backend systems”.

Microsoft had a very crowded session today about consuming SAP data via SAP NetWeaver Gateway in Windows 8.
