Blog It Forward – Colleen Walsh

My colleague Mark Marcus asked me to join his “Blog it Forward” (BIF) challenge.  Here is Mark’s BIF Blog

I am currently participating in a social media pilot for SAP. In my day job, I work with customers to create and identify the value of their business strategies and determine how they can be enabled by technology.

Here are the questions he asked me to answer:

Provide a fun fact about your country or yourself and upload a photo

I work and grew up in Houston, Texas, but most people are surpised to find that I don’t have a southern accent. My mid-western parents are probably to blame, but if you listen closely, you may hear me slip in a y’all and a fix’n too just to show my roots.  My favorite of course is to use “all of y’all” whenever possible.

What was your dream job as a kid?

Architect.  I loved the idea of building something beautiful that would be around for a very long time.  Although I ultimately chose to build companies in my career as a strategy consultant and lawyer, I still love homes and have “flipped” four vintage homes over the years as a hobby. Here is a snap shot of my latest, a 1930’s salvage from the wrecking ball.

What is your favorite place in the world?

I have traveled extensive in Europe and Asia, but my favorite place in the world is the Japenese Garden in Herman Park in Houston, Texas.  This garden is absolutely beautiful in the spring time and has a little house in the back over looking a river where my daughter and I love to have picnics.

In keeping the BIF going, I am asking the following questions:

1.     What was your dream job as a kid?

2.     What is your favorite place in the world?

3.     What was the most fun project you ever participated in and why?
