Automatic Replication of System Component Data in SMSY

Summary

SLD contains information about all available SAP products and components, including their versions. If there are any third-party products in the system landscape, they are also registered here. SLD also contains all installed systems in a system landscape.

This document describes the procedure of automatic replication of managed system component version in solution manager’s SMSY. This automatic updated component versions ensures to have correct stack file which can be used for upgrades.

Introduction:


System component version can be captured automatically in SMSY through SLD. For abap SystemSLD data can be triggered with RZ70 and for JAVA System its triggered by visual admin. This automatic update of system component version ensures correct component version ensures correct component version in stack file.

1. Configuring JAVA System in Solution Manager


1A. Create Technical System JAVA in ABAP stack of Solution Manager

When prompted select installation number from drop down using F4.

Do not give port number. Give only hostname

2. Create Technical System JAVA in Java stack of Solution Manager


Login into Java SLD of Solution manager   http://ip:5NR000/sld

Goto Home> Landscape > Technical System>

3. Creating SLD bridge


Login into http://ip:5NR000/sld of Managed System Java Stack

Navigate to Data Suppliers and click on ADD SLD and give Solution Manager IP and along with j2ee_admin user credentials

This will act as a bridge between your Managed system SLD and Solution Manager Java Stack.

4. Triggering Data

4A. For ABAP Stack


From managed system abap stack execute transaction RZ70.

Start data collector and start data collection.  After this a background job is scheduled once this background job is finished you can see abap stack component version in SMSY of solution manager.

Execute transaction SMSY_SETUP in solution manager and start data collector.

4B.  For Java Stack


Java stack component information can be triggered from visual admin of your managed system.


From Visual Admin of Managed system (ECC PRD) trigger SLD data transfer to solution manager. To do this navigate to usr/sap/SID/SystemNr/j2ee/admin/ and run ./go.


In visual admin navigate to cluster > Server > Services > SLD data Supplier. In right pane trigger data by clicking on trigger button on top left corner.

After data trigger all component versions are appear automatically

After successful background job you will be able to see data source as SLD
