My colleague Mark Marcus, asked me to join his "Blog it Forward" challenge.  I think it is a great way to learn the blogging process on SCN.

I am currently a Solution Engineer for Product Lifecycle Management located out of the Scottsdale, AZ office, where I am originally from. My role entails visiting customers all over the country and demonstrating how our solutions can better their business.

Here are the questions he asked me to answer:

What was your dream job as a kid?

While my fellow 5 year olds were aspiring to become astronauts, princesses, racecar drivers and movie stars, I had decided I was going to become a lawyer. My grandma had been a lawyer and some of my best childhood memories were of me sitting under her desk listening to her thick, Texas accent while she worked. To me, she was the most intelligent, powerful woman in the entire world and I couldn't wait to be just like her. When I was 9, I took a tour of the Rice University campus, my grandmother's alma mater. I promptly went home with the course catalog I had received and planned my entire curricula for when I would attend Rice.

This is me, my mom and grandparents when she graduated from her masters. I couldn't wait to wear that graduation cap.

What is your favorite place in the world?

My favorite place in the world is Barcelona, Spain. It has everything you could ever want from a city: art, history, beaches, nightlife.... and paella.

Things to do while in Barcelona:

1) Anything and everything Gaudi. Park Guell, Sagrada Familia Church and Casa Batllo are musts.

2) Eat paella and tapas... and then more paella.

3) Flamenco dancing.

4) Montserrat Monastery is a day trip but well worth it. The chocolate was so good, I brought home 10 bars for my family.

5) Barceloneta beach.

6) Dali Museum in Figueres, Spain is another day trip.

On the left is the Sagrada Familia Church and on the right is the Montserrat Monastery.

What was the most fun project you ever participated in and why?

My senior year in college, I had the opportunity to work for Boeing on the 64-D Apache Helicopter. My colleagues and I built a unique test apparatus to determine the best drag reduction technique to apply to Apache. I really enjoyed working with the brilliant minds at Boeing as well as being able to see how and where they manufacture their helicopters.

In keeping the BIF going, I am asking the following questions of tracy.ross, carson.diltz and kyle.bower:

  1. What was your dream job as a kid?
  2. What is your favorite place in the world?
  3. What was the most fun project you ever participated in and why?
