To all fellow SCN Moderators and Space Editors that will be attending SAP TechEd 2012 at Las Vegas, and for all SCN users willing to contribute with feedback and opinions and (positive) criticism on the moderators / space editors modus operandi or just anything SCN:

SCN Management team (namely, Jeanne Carboni, Gali Kling Schneider, Marilyn Pratt, Laure Cetin and Krysten Gentile) will be holding a Expert Networking Lounge for the Moderators/Space Editors Meetup at TechEd Las Vegas. Here are the details of the session:

EXP185 – SCN Moderator Meetup (make sure to add to your Agenda, so you won’t forget!)

Expert Networking Lounge 2

Tuesday, October 16th

12:00 to 12:30

It’s early lunch time so it shouldn’t conflict with most of the sessions you’ll be attending and will still (hopefully) leave enough time for a proper meal. 😉

Come take the chance to share opinions, information and best practices on moderation in New SCN, or just meet your moderators and editors and join us in a cheerful discussion. Proposed topics so far are:

  • Sharing best practices and ideas around moderation
  • Sharing best practices for the new SCN
  • How can the SCN team make moderator lives easier?
  • How can space teams work more effectively together?
  • Moderation role – facilitation or moderation?
  • Gamification / Points system

If you’d like to discuss something that is not mentioned in these topics above, please propose your idea in this thread and we’ll take it into consideration.

See you all there Tuesday! 🙂

I will also second that if you use SCN on any type of basis(lurk, contribute, or hang out all day), this is a great way to interact with the moderators in person.  The dialogue last year was great although I think the moderator to non-moderator ratio was tilted away from the moderators favor.

These discussions also do result in “long-term” improvements as they help to get people thinking about current problems and eventually some of those are resolved.  On the timing it’s much better than 5:30PM before the concert 🙂 as in previous years, so hopefully more people can attend.

That might be hard to do from the “show floor” where the expert lounge at SAP TechEd is (noise, connection ability for VOIP).

But perhaps we could see if we could have one of us use twitter to summarize the talking points live during the event and get your live feedback in a tweet stream.  with hashtag #SCNmods (?)

      Would that work?

      Hi Joseph,

I’d ask Gali Kling Schneider to answer to your question, but I suppose the idea of this meetup was to have personal interaction and give faces to the profiles. 😉

Other than that, we also hold regular Moderator Roundtable sessions that the moderators and editors can join as expectators. Check out for those in the SCN Moderators and Space Editors [Retired- Please Check the Overview Page For More Information] space, if you are a mod/editor.

That’s an excellent solution, Marilyn. That will definitely work, if it’s possible.

Thanks for the advice, Henrique. I join the sessions and reach out to Gali later this week.
