IDoc, a popular mode of data exchanges used among SAP systems, but when it comes to monitoring, it becomes a bit tricky.

We all know that the IDoc numbers vary when they are sent from SAP system and received in PI.

Within PI when we go to IDX5 we get an option of IDoc Monitoring.

This option helps us locate the IDoc in the respective Sender system, i.e. if the IDoc is triggered from SAP ECC system then from PI we can directly view it (via a remote logon)

But often when we click on the monitoring button we get following error

This is due to the fact that the PI is unable to do a remote logon to the SAP ECC system. When I did some research I found that it is basically done by the USER which is configured in the RFC destination

In this case it is the RFCUSER in ECC system.

Try to perform a remote logon from this RFC destination, if you are unable to do that then you wont be able to utilize the IDoc Monitoring option.

Now you need to logon to the ECC system and go to TCode SU01. Check the User maintained in the RFC destination

Change this user to service user from Dialogue user

Now try the remote logon. If you are successful then go to IDX5 again and try IDoc Monitoring again.
