E-Separation –A new chapter in your HR manual

Separation in all its forms (resignation,voluntary retirement,termination ) is a complex process which requires a lot of human intervention.But it is also a process which requires close monitoring and a clearly defined escalation channel.Given that, it also provide a lot of information which can help in formulating better HR Policies.But the prerequisite is that, the relevant data has been captured efficiently.With correct data in module specific tables ,reporting can be a cakewalk.A simple BI report around it can give you insight on reasons for that high attrition rate you dread,a list of employees who are stuck at various steps and are sending reminder mails to various departments/managers.So a smooth separation process accompanied by a closely monitored counseling sub-process will eventually

add brand value to an Organization.

Enough of the discourse, lets see what we have got here with pure technical perspective 😉 .

SAP has not very recently launched E-Separation with EhP5.With this we can have entire Hire to Retire process out of the box via web interface.

The cycle:

A typical cycle in E-Separation will undergo following process steps:

  • Initiation
  • Counseling
  • Approvals
  • Due Clearance
  • Exit Interview

The Good News 🙂

The new functionality sits on top of Existing HR Actions namely Pre-Separation & Separation.

The process is highly configurable with standard business workflows provided for each step. The module also makes use of Flex for Process Overview Diagram which looks quite good. Also it allows for Offline submission of Exit Interview forms using Adobe Forms which is part of standard delivery.

There are options to send reminders ,auto approvals and mailing which are necessary in a module such as Separation.

All the E-Separation applications have been developed on Webdynpro for ABAP platform the SAP UI of Choice. There are separate applications for:

  • Employee
  • Reporting Manager
  • HR Person
  • Departments
  • Administrator

Now the bad news 🙁

Since the product is still in evolution phase so one might find some links missing especially when it comes to integration with existing HR system.

This module has been released as part PY-IN parent module,so its country INDIA only(who could have guessed !!) but then you get excellent support from PY-IN Team.
