ABAP Development on SAP HANA @ TechEd 2012
Are you attending SAP TechEd 2012? Then you’ll have the opportunity to learn about how ABAP-based applications can leverage SAP HANA already now and what is to come in the future.
Here is a brief selection of sessions that might be of interest for you in this context:
The well-known SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP has been optimized for running on the SAP HANA in-memory database. This will enable ABAP developers to build cutting-edge business applications leveraging the proven, reliable ABAP technology as well as the powerful in-memory capabilities provided by SAP HANA. Visit this session to learn more about this unique offering.
In this hands-on session, you will be able to witness the most prominent SAP HANA in-memory features and learn the necessary ABAP language techniques to exploit them. Accelerate your applications by pushing down code to SAP HANA by using the business function library or the very powerful text search capabilities like fuzzy search. This session is particularly helpful if you want to extend your relational database expertise with best practices for in-memory column stores.
This lecture outlines best practices and tips and tricks for successfully leveraging the SAP HANA capabilities from your known ABAP environment. Key points include optimizing SQL queries, code pushdown via SAP HANA procedures and views, and advanced topics like fuzzy search. You will learn which tools can be used and how improvements can be validated. After a demo, you will get an outlook about planned future innovations supporting in-memory optimized business application development on SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP.
This session will provide an overview of new and enhanced ABAP language features, plus, you will learn how to apply them using the new and exciting ABAP development tools for Eclipse platform. The new ABAP features covered will include: extended expressions, secondary keys, dynamic where clauses for internal tables, string templates, and much more. You will also learn tips and tricks from experienced developers about how to use the new ABAP development tools for Eclipse platform.
With the introduction of SAP HANA, SAP developers from all backgrounds can now exploit the power of a columnar, in-memory database. To fully leverage the power of SAP
HANA, developers need to learn to push more of the application processing down into the database. This is done by writing more of the logic in SQL and SQLScript. In this hands-on session, we will cover the introductory basics of SQLScript in SAP HANA as well as cover some of the most common troubleshooting techniques. We will also see some more advanced techniques such as how to integrate R (programming language) into SAP HANA processing via SQLScript.
All sessions are offered in Las Vegas (Oct 15-19), Madrid (Nov 13-16) and Bangalore (Nov 28-30). Some of these sessions might also be offered in Shanghai (Dec 4-5), but the final session schedule is not available yet.
