Idea Place http://ideas.sap.com/ hosted by SAP is the public channel to participate in innovation at SAP - a step changes towards influencing the future of SAP products, solutions or services that are easier to use, lower customers cost and just make the products, solutions or services better. Idea place enables customers, partners and the greater ecosystem to submit ideas, collaborate on and vote for ideas, and connect with the teams that build SAP products, solutions or services.
Idea Place hosts idea sessions that are innovation jams based on an SAP product, solution or more broadly a focus topic. Users can browse the various idea sessions and participate in ones that are most relevant to them and co-innovate with their peers to further the SAP Ecosystem of solutions.
Idea Place has been running for 2 years and now has over 11,500 Submitted Ideas, 9,000 Comments and 330 Delivered Ideas.
What benefits has Idea Place provided?
Idea Place meets several business goals for SAP and the SAP Ecosystem, two key ones though:
1. Providing a scalable way for product managers to co-innovate with customers and partners. The customers know their environment the best and by providing an online social way to connect with them, SAP can have conversation with not only the IT and admins who install and run SAP but the everyday users of SAP products as well.
2. Fostering developer in the SAP Ecosystem. With idea sessions like 'Suggest Mobile Apps' customers can make requests for the types of new mobile apps they would like to see running on SAP. By keeping the requests open, others customers can support the requests, increasing the demand. Once a significant amount of demand is available for an app an SAP partner can begin working with the customers to build the solution - with or without SAP. This enables the SAP Ecosystem to scale while SAP plays a more supportive and enabling role and not limiting growth potential.
