SAP Innovations and Improvements for Management Accounting (ERP CO)
What an interesting year it has been already … and there are still some 4 months to go.
IMPROVEMENTS
With 2/3 of the year in the books now we released EhP6 enhancements specific to ERP CO but also in support of our Modernized Finance User Experience in general.
On the ERP CO side we delivered new roles – for Internal Controller, Project Planner and Cost Center Manager – in the NW Business Client, new planning applications for project planning and cost estimation on projects, enhancements to Express Planning, new master data user interfaces for cost center, activity type and internal order with change requests, a new hierarchy maintenance user interface, and operational data providers for cost center, order, production orders and profitability analysis
On the Modernized User Interface side we delivered with EhP6 the Business Suite Side Panels and UI enhancements in a number of applications (see above), and Operational Data Providers. All adding to the already available NetWeaver Business Client, Embedded Analytics (EhP5), Simplified reporting and Power Lists (from EhP3), and business user oriented reporting and analytics including via mobile. And just recently now SP4 arrived as well with further enhancements.

INNOVATIONS
Further enhancements were made to our HANA Finance and Controlling Accelerators (in-memory) and they now cover Profitability (Profitability lysis), Finance (New General Ledger, Classic General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Profit Center Accounting, Asset Accounting, Special Purpose Ledger), Controlling (Overhead management, Project System, Investment Management, Material Ledger, Production Costing). Key improvements were the addition of the classic general ledger and accelerated allocations, yes – accelerated allocations !
With SAP RealSpend (mobile) we have a very cool application in our solution portfolio now that delivers business insight for discretionary expenses directly from an iPad from cost center accounting and internal orders. Additional data sources like profit center accounting, project system, and funds management are in the works.
And last but not least SAP Net Margin Analysis (analytics) is available now as well to reduce direct and indirect costs to maximize overall net margin across all combinations of product, customer, sales organization, and channel with pre-defined, role-based dashboards and what-if analysis based on consolidated CO-PA, CO CCA and PCM data.
Over the months to come we will dive into each of the innovation and improvement areas in more detail. The plan is to do this bi-weekly and by a number of people from solution management, product management.
