Please read Moshe Naveh’s post if you are not familiar with the Blog It Forward Challenge.

My name is Kirsten Sutton and I'm the Managing Director for Labs Canada. The organziation spans 4 locations across Canada in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and soon to become part of the family - Waterloo. I've been with SAP since 1998 as a full-time employee and spent 3 years prior to that as a contract employee. While it has been almost 20 years, it feels like each day brings new opportunities and the time has flown by! Really...I can't possibly be 20 years older now can I?

I was 'forwarded' by mickey.steiner- Thank you Mickey for thinking of me to include in this terrific initiative! Mickey asked me to answer the following questions:

Share something interesting about your (SAP Lab) location:

Lacrosse. Poutine. Insulin. Where would the world be without the 2nd largest and 1st most apologetic country? When people want to eat Timbits, go whale watching and skiing in the same day and cheer on the finest hockey teams in the world, they make the trip to Canada. While 90% of Canada's ~33 million people huddle within 160 kilometres of the US border, we are a country that spans 9.9 million square kilometres, touches 3 oceans and juggles 6 time zones - so we have a lot to be proud of - even if we aren't comfortable tooting our own horns. And despite the fact that many areas of Canada never see a flake of snow, we're honoured to have been given such a grand nickname as the Great White North.

A hobby of yours now or when you were young

I make costumes. Every year my family spends months getting geared up for Halloween and I'm the costume-maker. We always dress up as a group together though my two older boys are not interested in participating now - we're not cool enough for them anymore! Here's a few examples of the costumes that I make:

A favorite place that you traveled to or wish to go to

My favorite trip ever was a wine tour through Alsace with my husband. I learned a lot on that trip - mostly that we love Alsatian wines, but also that my husband does not know how to drive a standard transmission, that I was pregnant with my daughter and that choucroute can be eaten every night for 7 days without getting sick of it!

I would like to blog it forward to the following people:

  • Jayme Smithers, one of the most passionate SAP employees we have and someone who will rock this initiative
  • Jon Druker, a great team mate whose creativity and committment are unmatched
  • jason.cao, an avid SCN contributor and the one who will know exactly what to do with this request
  • James Phu, the creator of the Positive Energy community site within SAP (https://community.wdf.sap.corp/sbs/groups/positive-energy)

I would ask that they please answer one or more of the following questions:

  • What is the best thing about your current role at SAP?
  • What is your secret talent?
  • When was the last time you congratulated someone for something at SAP? What was it for?

Please be sure to follow the Blog It Forward Chain to see where it will lead…
