If you've been following this series, we have been trying to pull out some of the hot topics and questions that we hear from customers in the SAP Support Portal.

Yes, there are a lot

This post is going to cover a wide range of questions, so sit back and relax....here we go!

Are there any methods by which we could subscribe to notifications about known issues?

Quick answer, yes!  Within the support portal, you can choose to be notified about security issues, top news/notes, patches.

The SAP Hot News, SAP BusinessObjects Notifications, SAP Legal Change Notes, SAP Security Notes, and SAP Top Notes all require additional steps to set up the notifications.  By clicking on the Define Filter box to the right of the area you are interested in adding, you will be guided through the steps to set up your subscriptions.  Don’t forget to save your changes when you are done.  If at any time you would like to remove notifications, you can click the Unsubscribe button.

There is also a YouTube video available which shows you how to set up these notifications.  Check out the SAP ServiceMarketplace channel here: http://youtube.com/sapsmptv.  More information on profile and notifications can be found in part 1

How do you find and download SAP BusinessObjects software and patches in the Service Marketplace?

This is a question I hear a lot.  When we began providing SAP Support Portal demos to customers 2 years ago (registration link to sign up is http://service.sap.com/portaldemo), this was one of the areas we covered the most.

Under the Software Downloads tab select either Support Packages and Patches for Service Packs, Hot Fixes type downloads or select Installations and Upgrades for product downloads.

Click on My Company’s Application Components, then click on My Company’s Software.  This will give you access to all products that your company has purchased.

Select the product you want to download, choose the version and operating system.  You can download each file individually by clicking on the Download Object, or you can select the file and add it to the Download Basket to use Download Manager to access the file

Good to know: On the Download page, if you see multiple products/versions listed, you can click on the Last Changed button to filter by date of availability.

Is there a standard release schedule for patches/support packages/stacks?

Yes, information on SAP support stacks can be found here: http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks.  For the BI suite, information can be found here: http://service.sap.com/bosap-maintenance-schedule

How do I get into the Ramp Up program?

Information on the Ramp Up Program can be found on the SAP Support Portal here: http://service.sap.com/rampup

You can find out about current and upcoming ramp-up programs by viewing this list of solutions

That's where we will end for today.  Do you have a question that you want answered about the SAP Support Portal?  Please add a comment below.
