My name is Shay Barry, and I work in SAP labs Israel. I've been here quite a while (11 years!) but I still find the work exciting, challenging and dynamic.

Gali Kling Schneider blogged it forward to me. You are welcome to read her post if you have not done so already. Gali wanted me to answer the following questions:

A fact(s) about SAP Labs Israel the community might not be familiar with:

Well, actually I will share with you two facts about SAP Labs Israel:

  1. You have to come and visit – we have a really nice view from the top of the building on the 12th floor. On most days you can see the sea shore to the west, and the Samaria Mountains to the east. It highlights how narrow Israel is and the variety of views you can see from one location.
  2. SCN (then SDN, which I had the honor to be a part of its founding team) was initially launched with a team that was 50 percent from SAP Labs Israel (or they were originally from the Israeli Lab).

Share one person who influenced you greatly and why?

I know this might sound "cheesy" in our cynical world, but one of the people who greatly influenced me was my grandfather, may his soul rest in peace. He was a person with a thirst for knowledge, always saw the good in people, and was always happy to assist and give advice.

What do you enjoy most in your work and why?

The main thing I enjoy in my work is the fact that I need to solve business market challenges and transform them into a potential solution or service in the SAP world, as well as push it forward until it becomes a solution. In addition, since I am working on the SAP Store topic, I find it super cool and interesting that I am given the opportunity to build a solution which mashes up challenges in both the enterprise world, and the consumer world. Combining 3 elements that are close to my heart; user experience, social media and ecommerce technology.

If you were 20 again, what would you study?

I would not have studied something else, I studied the art of Cinema and Television which was very interesting, creative and mind opening! I actually recommend everyone to have a diploma in this field; it’s a lot of fun

I am happy to be given the opportunity to have been added to this great initiative and I decided to share/  ‘Blog It Forward’ to four of my friends and colleagues in SAP, all who touch interesting topics:

Shweta Kesarwani – Solution Manager for Commercial Platform

Scott Jones - Training and Certification Lead for the SAP Startup Focus Program

Oren Haze - Head of SAP Real-Time Offer Management, SAP Labs Israel

Etay Gafni - Founder and CEO of Brightact - Mobile UX Prototyping and Consulting

I would ask that they please answer one or more of the following questions:

What do you enjoy most in your work and why?

What is your professional life dream?

If you were to move to another country – where you would choose to go?

Please be sure to follow the Blog It Forward Chain to see where it will lead…
