Are you interested in the latest ABAP technology news and visiting one of the upcoming SAP TechEd 2012 events? Here is a brief overview of sessions that might be of interest for you. Please be aware that this selection is not complete, but focusing on the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP optimizations for SAP HANA, the ABAP programming language, SAP’s new ABAP IDE and the test and troubleshooting tools for ABAP development.
The well-known SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP has been optimized for running on the SAP HANA in-memory database. This will enable ABAP developers to build cutting-edge business applications leveraging the proven, reliable ABAP technology as well as the powerful in-memory capabilities provided by SAP HANA. Visit this session to learn more about this unique offering.
In this hands-on session, you will be able to witness the most prominent SAP HANA in-memory features and learn the necessary ABAP language techniques to exploit them. Accelerate your applications by pushing down code to SAP HANA by using the business function library or the very powerful text search capabilities like fuzzy search. This session is particularly helpful if you want to extend your relational database expertise with best practices for in-memory column stores.
This lecture outlines best practices and tips and tricks for successfully leveraging the SAP HANA capabilities from your known ABAP environment. Key points include optimizing SQL queries, code pushdown via SAP HANA procedures and views, and advanced topics like fuzzy search. You will learn which tools can be used and how improvements can be validated. After a demo, you will get an outlook about planned future innovations supporting in-memory optimized business application development on SAP NetWeaver Application Server.
Bugs in your custom ABAP code can be quite expensive when they impact critical business processes, which is why ABAP quality assurance of custom code is receiving more and more attention in business. SAP is developing a great deal of ABAP code and they use the ABAP test cockpit as a central check tool. Why should customers not use the same ABAP check tool SAP is using?Good question. That’s why SAP started a pilot project with two big customers in order to find out if the ABAP test cockpit is beneficial for custom code. The results of this pilot project were very promising and now we can proudly announce that we plan to release the ABAP test cockpit to customers. In this session, we will show you in live demos why the ABAP test cockpit is a “must have” for your custom ABAP development.
Did you have quality issues with your ABAP programs in the productive system recently? Are you looking for tools which help ABAP developers to deliver high-quality software? If a bug entered production, do you want to know all debugger tricks to find the issue immediately? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this session is a must attend for you. We will show how ABAP developers can use the planned brand-new “ABAP test cockpit” and “ABAP unit” to verify their ABAP code. We will also demonstrate all new debugger features. This session will include many demos and exercises which help benefit you in your daily work.
This session will provide an overview of new and enhanced ABAP language features, plus, you will learn how to apply them using the new and exciting ABAP development tools for Eclipse platform. The new ABAP features covered will include: extended expressions, secondary keys, dynamic where clauses for internal tables, string templates, and much more. You will also learn tips and tricks from experienced developers about how to use the new ABAP development tools for Eclipse platform.
