Build a Simple WebDynpro ABAP App

Four years ago began my responsibility for supporting HR applications that were accessed by employees via our SAP Netweaver Portal. New to the SAP world, I had to quickly learn how to develop/customize Web Dynpro for ABAP (WDA) and WDJ apps. I also was tasked with integrating these apps with the SAP Portal and maintaining the Portal’s theme / layout.

I unfortunately did not have accessibility to this knowledge internally, so I had to look elsewhere. To my surprise I could not find any video tutorials (my preferred medium for learning). While I was able to find a handful of websites with step-by-step tutorials, I often found steps in the tutorial to be unintentionally skipped by the author or skipped due to assumed knowledge. I found this very frustrating and I knew I wasn’t alone.

A few training sessions, LOTS of searching the web and several SAP Books later, I was able mature my SAP competencies. While I still have much to learn, for those new to the SAP community I am now trying make your life easier — as I know it’s a tough spot to be in. Over the last few months I’ve created a serious of SAP video tutorials that will hopefully aid your journey as a newbie. enjoy!

Webdynpros have always seemed so overwhelming. Thanks for the basics. I am sure I can develop from this. 🙂
