I will be speaking tomorrow at the SAP Australian User Group (ASUG) Summit on the role that SAP Custom Development can play within customer premises. The thought process that I wish to provoke is based on my experiences with multiple customers of SAP over last 15 years. Our customers often talk of innovations and best practices within their organisations, and they expect an “outsider” to bring it to them/show them/tell them. Yet, when they hear all the experts, they also realise that certain aspects of their businesses are unique. They are not there in any software, and no business has ever done this before. What can they do then? Traditionally they have “tweaked around” with what they have purchased, on a technology and platform which has taken forty years for SAP to evolve. SAP Custom Development can help them innovate “in-house” and stay differentiated and ahead of their competition, when they leverage us professionals who do nothing else but do “differentiated innovations”.
