BW Benefits over HANA

BW on SAP HANA is an advanced (flavour) product for data warehouses.I have experienced the same with many of the end users. In context to that i am providing some basic insight on the lines of BW.

asdf.JPG

Performance @ Reports:At HANA the BW performs the best when compared to the BW on oracle. We can say it will be typically10 to 1000 times faster for the       reports.especially at reporting this is the most amazing tool.

Quicker and Faster: Data loads will happen much faster in SAP-HANA.These are 3 to 5 times faster when compaerd to normal data loading performance.

Tiny Database: Compression holds a high significance in any database. On compression when we compare the Oracle data base with SAP-HANA ,to compress the data on average SAP HANA will show 10times  better performance than Oracle.

As Oracle stores the aggregated information to improve report performnace, But for SAP we dont need the duplicate layers of aggregated information

Lowcost Development: Developers can input their workvery faster in SAP HANA which will enable them as more productive.-while reducing the cost of development

High Granularity: HANA has increased granularity because it can store the data very lower levels without pre-aggregation.So we can drill-down from the highest part to lowest part of the reports in one system with aceptable response times.

Here it allows two importnat organizational changes

1.Agility and

2.Adoption

Agility improves business response times and adoption makes the data available when a user expect it.

Migration to SAP HANA might take  2months of time but once it is done we wil be in the enviornment where we cna drive the changes very fast.

Nice share Karthik, appreciate your work.

      I have few questions though:

      1. Prior to HANA, if you use BWA do you see even more improvement in query runtime?

      2. When we talk about batch jobs, is the DSO activation time significantly reduced as well?

      3. What will be the main factors to consider when migrating from other database e.g. Oracle to HANA?
