Problem

Dashboards with several elements can product some unexpected printing results.  In many cases, it’s hard to put your finger on exactly what is causing the problem.  It works on some people’s machine and not on others.

We have a dashboard with a large amount of elements on screen (about 70 in total) and we have been having problems printing the dashboard.  The following occurs:

  • Fonts appear different to how they show on screen
  • Only part of the elements print (e.g., 1st green button prints but other 19 do not)
  • Trend lines and background colours do not appear
  • All sorts of weird and not so wonderful things appear incorrect

Solution

The problem is almost certainly to do with your version of Flash Player.  In order to fix the problem, you should downgrade your flash player to the correct, supported version of the product.  It may be easier to test your dashboard on other machines using a URL with varying versions of flash to determine how far you need to roll-back.

When uninstalling, you should use the uninstall tool to completely remove the software.  The tool can be found here:

Once you’re uninstalled, look for an archived version here

I’m hoping this will save you some of the hours I spent diagnosing the problem.
