Travel – what a pain

For many, travel is a nightmare.  At best, it’s a mild but necessary annoyance to get from point A to point B.  Lugging around a heavy suitcase and fumbling for your passport just to squeeze yourself onto a too-small airplane seat can hardly be called thrilling.  And worse if your job requires to do this frequently (frequent flyer = frequent pain). Now imagine that on top of that, you need to keep track of every transaction you make once you’ve reached your destination.  As a business traveler, you must comply with your company’s travel policies and need to keep receipts to receive reimbursements.  All this adds up to one big headache.

Luckily, SAP Travel OnDemand lessens the pain of business travel by providing an easy and efficient way to manage business travel.  Not only can this fully-functional solution manage travel from pre-trip approval to expense reporting, but it is also mobile and easy to use.  And like any cloud solution, SAP Travel OnDemand is accessible from anywhere.

With SAP Travel OnDemand, you can concentrate on your business goals instead of focusing on receipts, reimbursements and travel policies.  Thanks to Travel OnDemand’s real-time guidance, every aspect of travel can be controlled without straying from corporate travel policies. Even better, SAP recently expanded its portfolio of cloud offerings with the announcement of  increased availability.  This expanded offering is sure to be met with excitement, as companies and business people are constantly seeking ways to streamline and simplify end-to-end processes.

SAP Travel OnDemand allows financial officers and business travelers to handle the end-to-end process of travel and expense management faster, cheaper and easier, all while adhering to corporate policies.  Already available in the U.S. and Germany, the solution has now been released in an additional 14 countries.  Of course, country-specific versions comply with national and statutory requirements so multi-national companies can manage travel processes seamlessly.

SAP has teamed up with best-in-breed technology players to ensure the best possible experience for our customers.  We are working with OpenText’s smart receipt recognition services so a quick snapshot of a receipt from your smartphone is translated into machine-readable information and automatically pre-populates the expense report.  Customers are provided even greater flexibility with Amadeux, SAP’s newest addition to online booking tools.  Further streamlining will come from SAP’s collaboration with AirPlus International.  Together, we plan to provide automated, near field communication (NFC) mobile payment processing.  This will both reduce costs and simplify the credit card clearing process on the back-end, ultimately reducing the effort on the part of the traveler.

With our quarterly release cycles of new features, updates, partnerships and country versions, SAP has shown its dedication to innovation.  SAP has even doubled investment since the March 2012 launch of SAP Travel OnDemand.

Although SAP Travel OnDemand can’t widen cramped airplane seats or lighten the load of luggage, it makes business travel much simpler and more efficient.  And like all our cloud offerings, SAP Travel OnDemand is sure to bring benefits to companies everywhere with its combination of utility, speed, access, and ease-of-use.

Seems that this solution was inspired by CarbonTNT. Hope it can be integrated into an existing ERP running HR.
