The emergence of the Prosumer (a harmonious mix of consumer and professional business worker) is a major milestone over the last few years and the prosumer has a growing influence over innovation and the use of technology within their company.

For example in the enterprise the “Prosumer” expects the same Mobile App experience – Amazing, Beautiful & Compelling Apps. In turn the Prosumer also expects the same experience in obtaining apps that they will use every day to enhance and speed their performance etc.

Introducing the Corporate App Store

The Corporate App Store must be the One Stop Shop for the Prosumer. It must be able to deliver the innovative in-house built corporate apps OTA (over the air) that are required by today’s Enterprise Information Workers. Also the corporate app store should suggest productivity Apps that are already available to the consumer on public app stores, but identified as time saving and important tools for the corporate worker.

The Corporate App Store should also deliver these consumer apps, without the worker being charged, with bulk purchased codes. Sounds like a great idea? Check out Afaria to see how you can implement this in-house

NOTE

I wrote the above the week before 11 June and after listening to the WWDC 2012 Keynote. Tim Cook mentioned statistics from the Apple App Store, that 30 billion apps have now been downloaded. Cook also noted that Apple has paid out more than $5 billion to  developers and that there are more than 400 million iTunes store  accounts.
