Increasing Interactivity In BI 4.0 WEBI Reports

Linking the Charts/Tables – simply a Dashboard feature now in BI 4.0

Raw Data Table:

To illustrate this new feature I have leveraged a Tag cloud chart - a new charting sample in this blog to increase the interactivity.

1.)   1.) Select a TAG Cloud chart and set the State dimension as tags in it.

2.)    2.) Now have the desired columns to be displayed in the table below and apply section on the State dimension an d insert a Pie chart into that section so that we can get the graphical view of the data as per the sections.

3.)    3.) Now create a link (Report Element > Linking) between the Tad Cloud chart and the below sectioned table specifying the Dimension that will link both (mean the common dimension between both sections). Here I have linked on State Dimension.

Now experience the below interactiveness !!!

• Click on any State name label on tag cloud above, to filter data detail displayed on section below. An Element link has been defined between chart and section (Report Element > Linking).

• Since element link target is set on whole section. Any content inserted within section will be filtered according to the state selected above.
