For SAP IT, Virtualization is both a business and technology play

SAP’s Global IT team experiences many of the same challenges as our IT customers- supporting innovation through technology, fulfilling Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to the business, and ensuring faster time-to-service for IT projects.  SAP IT has the added challenge of not only running a business but also supporting the company’s role as a Service Provider- requiring IT’s support of significant internal development and production systems.

SAP IT is under constant pressure to support the company’s fast-paced cycles of innovation and improving the time-to-value for our customers.  As our employees and customers leverage new technologies such as Mobile and Cloud– it is critical that our internal systems are able to keep pace with our global development team and take new solutions to market quickly.

Like most large enterprises, SAP manages a hybrid environment with systems both in the cloud and on-premise.  In order to enable the journey to the Cloud, SAP IT has partnered with VMware to deploy virtualization as a means of reducing operational costs and improving time-to-service for our developers and customers.  To date, SAP global IT infrastructure management division has virtualized 60% of our global infrastructure and manages a VMware vSphere environment comprising of more than ten thousand virtual machines and several hundred ESX servers.  Register for the live webinar below to find out why virtualization has become a critical enabler of SAP’s  Cloud Strategy.
