Last week, jason.rose and manikandan.srinivasan provided a webcast on SAP Visual Intelligence.  Here is the link to the PDF of the presentation and a link to the replay.  This was a joint ASUG/SCN webcast.  Our next joint ASUG/SCN webcast is July 18th with ingo.hilgefort providing an update on BI4 Integration with SAP - register here.

This week, version 1.0.1 was just released.  What is new in Version 1.0.1?  This slide from last week’s webcast shows what is included in 1.0.1:

Figure 1: Source: SAP

In version 1.01 you have the following features:

  • Ability to use .CSV as a data source
  • Ability to use Excel as a data source
  • For StreamWork integration you need the SAP StreamWork Enterprise license

Experiences:

  • Installs quickly and you can use it in less than 10 minutes
  • You need a 64 bit machine
  • Easy to get started

Here is the initial screen:

Figure 2

At the bottom right of Figure 2 you see links to the social sites.  Twitter takes you to @businessobjects

In the bottom middle are links to the tutorials by @Sap_Learn_BI product team.

At the lower left of Figure 2 is the help.  Talk to the community of experts takes you to the SCN BusinessObjects Explorer space

Figure 3

I followed the initial screen steps and double clicked on the eFashion sample shown in Figure 3

Figure 4

Now you click “Acquire” to load the data

Figure 5

In Figure 5 it shows 5 semantic elements.  At first I didn’t know what that meant, but when you click on it you appreciate what it does for your visualization document.

Figure 6

Semantic enrichment turned the attributes into measures, which allows for calculations, etc.

Figure 7

When you click Visualize it displays a graph and you drag over the measures to the axes

Figure 8

Figure 8 shows another map visualization

I'll have more experience to share in another blog.
