The Sizzle Sells the Steak!
I recently had the opportunity to write a guest blog for the Food Logistics magazine. As you may know Food Logistics is a premiere publication in the US that dedicates itself to covering the movement of product and information through the food supply chain.
The topic of my blog was enterprise mobility as it is a hot bed of activity for most food service distributors as well as distributors in other sub-sectors of the wholesale business e.g. industrial, hi-tech, and healthcare. My blog covers some of the popular mobile scenarios that we are seeing leveraged in our wholesale distribution industry.
In our interactions with customers we often get asked the following three questions as far as mobile solutions are concerned:
- When am I going to see the ROI?
- How should I start?
- How does the path forward look like?
At the recent SAPPHIRE NOW event in Orlando, Ram Jambunathan, from our SAP Value Engineering group gave an excellent presentation on “Building a Business Case for Enterprise Mobility.” In that session he covered these and other questions in much detail. I’d highly recommend it for wholesalers who are starting their mobile journey.

As I said in my blog, the sizzle is enterprise mobility e.g. sales reps equipped with smart phones or tablets and cool enterprise mobile apps to be used anytime anywhere. And the steak continues to be a foodservice distributor’s existing customer relationships backed up by their superior customer service.
