It has been a busy week leading to SAPPHIRE NOW. I spent few days in Silicon Valley attending the Technical Services World conference conducted by TSIA. It is a great event that brings together leaders from services organizations from different organizations and services practitioners. I was excited that SAP Advanced Delivery Management approach to delivery of SAP projects has been selected as finalist for the 2012 Vision Awards from the TSIA. I had the privilege to present the SAP Advanced Delivery Approach concept to the judges and audience during the event. It is a result of hard work of many talented people at SAP that worked hard for more that a year to bring together the innovation for delivery of SAP services. I was delighted when SAP was named a winner of the 2012 Vision Award in Services Practitioner category, it is recognition of the level of innovation we as a company put into services we deliver to our clients. It clearly shows that SAP is not only innovating in the area of products like HANA and Mobile solutions, but also in the services delivery that is essential part of SAP experience.

The Advanced Delivery Management builds on the concept of Rapid Deployment Solutions as fully packaged solutions that can be delivered in short time and extends this concept to services SAP delivers. The key components that allow us deliver consistently around the globe and deliver predictable results is standardization of the way we deliver both on organizational level and in the way we design the services portfolio.

Every service in the portfolio is mapped to one of four delivery models (from industrialized that is fully packaged to expert based). We use one common prescriptive methodology (extension of ASAP Methodology for Implementation) that is used by all the services to describe the deliverables and tasks including the resources accountable for the task and other important delivery details like expertise of the resource delivering the task, delivery organization from which the resource is sourced and many other details. This way the services are standardized and can be assembled to match customer requirement. Assembling projects from pre-packaged services is very different from executing traditional build-to-order projects and it is much more efficient for both customers and SAP.

The Advanced Delivery Management is not just a new concept, it is a real way of services delivery that SAP Services use today to deliver successful customer projects. Many customers have had excellent experience with this approach and we are delighted with the results so far.
