BSP: IFRAME does not work in Safari, any alternative solution?

Hi,

The content design of our BSP application was DESIGN2003 and it was not working in Safari. Based on the note 598860 we changed the content design to DESIGN2008 and it worked in Safari. We did not notice much change in the UI but there was one issue:

IFRAME does not work in Safari. IFRAME is used in our application to kill sessions when the user closes the browser window with [x].

Questions:

1. Is there a way to replace IFRAME? and the sessions are killed when user closes the browser window with [x].
2. What is the difference between DESIGN2003 and DESIGN2008
