Solution
How you will handle this in MDM 7.1 Import Manager?
1. Import the file in Import Manager
2. Click on the field in Source preview which you want to see in tab- “Partition Field/Value” under “Partition by” area. If you want to see CATALOG ID in “Partition Field/Value”
under “Partition by”, click on CATLOFG ID field in Source preview tab. This field will be highlighted yellow in source Hierarchy pane.
under “Partition by”, click on CATLOFG ID field in Source preview tab. This field will be highlighted yellow in source Hierarchy pane.
3. Now go to “Partition Field/Value” tab, select fields one by one in the order you want them as per your excel sheet format. Select them all one by one.
4. Now click on Combine button to combine them as one field with partition:
5. If you want to upload a Taxonomy or Hierarchy then ‘Split” them like below. But you don’t want to do this here.
6. Now come to Map Fields/Values tab. Select the new field “ CATALOG ID [Partition] from Source fields pane and map with “MULTI CAT” ( or whatever is your multi
value field) in Destination pane.
value field) in Destination pane.
7. Now do value mapping. Do Auto map. This step would need to be done always. If you don’t do value auto map in case of manual upload, catalog will not be replaced with new values. Only In case of automatic upload Import manager will do “Auto-map” automatically. Each of the value in left pane of value
should exactly match with value in Right pane. Make sure Converted values show how you want them to see in data manager.

8. IMPORTANT –>YOU WILL NEED TO SET THE PROPERTY HOW YOU WANT THESE VALUES TO BE UPDATED. –> REPLACE OR APPEND.
REPLACE WILL WIPE OUT EARLIER THINGS AND REPLACE WITH NEW ONES FROM EXCEL SHEET. APPEND WILL NOT TOUCH EXISTING VALUES, WILL ONLY UPDLOAD WHICH ARE NOT THERE IN DATA MANAGER.
REPLACE WILL WIPE OUT EARLIER THINGS AND REPLACE WITH NEW ONES FROM EXCEL SHEET. APPEND WILL NOT TOUCH EXISTING VALUES, WILL ONLY UPDLOAD WHICH ARE NOT THERE IN DATA MANAGER.
9. You can set this another way also. From Menu–> Configuration–>Options
10. Now you can match Record. Use any unique key like item valuation.
11. You should save this Import file if you want to do similar import in future. However, each time you do manual import, you will need to manually “Auto-map” or ‘map” the values for Partitioned field.
12. Then you are ready to import. After import check the data manager, new set of values are replaced in Catalog.
13. You imported multiple values into a single field in Repository. You verified this in Data manager, where new set of 3 values are replaced in Catalog.
