Explore a world of possibilities with SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 – Part 1

In this series of SDN articles and blogs I would like to discuss how to explore a world of possibilities through SRM-MDM Catalogs.  How SRM-MDM Catalog can enhance any Organization’s Procurement processes, at the same time leverage the underlying strong MDM technology to manage and ensure integrity of Content.

I had been implementing MDM for quite some time and have got into implementation of SRM-MDM Catalogs in last few projects. The information for implementing SRM-MDM Catalogs is scattered, though available. I found a strong need to put the bits and pieces of SRM-MDM Catalog together and share my acquired knowledge base to discuss SRM-MDM Catalog functionalities to share with SCN community.

This series is intended for

1.       Corporate decision makers in Purchasing –

o   To know what opportunities  SRM-MDM Catalog can offer to better negotiate with Suppliers to control the Spend

o   What smart and better choices End buyers could have while buying something from Catalogs.

2.       Implementation Partners and Consultants

o   How they can apply capabilities of SRM-MDM Catalog solution to address their customers’ specific business scenarios

o   Implementation guide  on functionalities and Technical Solutioning

 

3.       SDN, BPX and overall SCN community as Knowledge Sharing sessions

 

4.       IT Department

o   To help the IT Department who is(or trying to ) building a Business Case to showcase to the various capabilities offered by SRM-MDM Catalogs

 

We would discuss what is the value proposition SRM-MDM Catalogs offer to business? What kinds of businesses could get benefitted by SRM-MDM Cataogs?  Here we  would talk about End users and your company’s local buyers, who have a right to have best information and tools available with them while making Procurement decisions, how you can empower them to make cost effective smart procurement decision.  We would talk about how to go ahead and implement the advanced features of SRM-MDM Catalog. For example, for Corporate Buyers who are responsible for centralized procurement, we will see how Fixed Sales Packages, Configurable Sales Package, Bill of Material, Services etc. can come very handy for preparing their Ace cards before getting on to negotiating table with your Suppliers to finalize Contracts and ultimately contributing to enhance the bottom line.

      This is really a interesting  topic. Most of corporate buyer always face problem while selecting from vendor Catalog.
      It looks it is the easy way  to manage catalog data and integrate with business processes, as well as support complex hierarchies.

      MDM is very flexble for mapping Supplier Data and its very tightly integrated SRM. We have implemented process where Contracts are replicated from SRM to MDM this give control over price. Other data like image, PDF, long text are enriched from Supplier. Different Mapping can be created to support Supplier Data mapping

      Absolutely Jigar. I guess you would have used PI/XI and/or MDMGX/standard extractrs to extract Contract data from SRM.
