MSS Homepage customisation
Lately, there has been many questions regarding MSS ADD On and its customisation, So this is the reason for this blog.
It’s possible to configure the home page to not display the pieces of the home page (i.e) competency management, CATS dashboard etc. there are several views embedded in the standard delivery profile page. You can make a decision to show which views, You need to copy this to your Z Configuration in order to protect your changes in case of support package upgrade.Well, its always recommended to make a copy of the standard configuration and make changes to your Z one.
Please follow these Steps
Step 1 : Use Package PAOC_MSS in SE80
Step 2 : Select Configuration Name HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP and click on Start Configurator
Step 3 Select the Atttributes or the piece you want to hide
Step 4 : Click on the attribute and check the box
This way the home page is launched without the competency management view. However, by using the personalize option
in the page, the users can add the view to the homepage. If you don’t want the view permantely than you can delete the UIBB by clicking on the
delete button on the top right corner of the configuration screen. This way, the users cannot add the view to the home page using personlization.

Thanks for this excellent blog.

Rajendra
Very helpful. I am new to WD4A and am not sure about some of your steps. At what point do you create the Z configuration? Is this after you start the configurator for Component Configuration HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP (make a Z copy of this and then edit the Z copy, correct?)? Is there a "How To Guide" anywhere on MSS Add-on 1.0 Customization?
Again thanks for the great information.
Many thanks for the comments
Joyce : It is the first step when you copy the standard one into Z one and make your modificaiton on it.
As shown in STEP 1, you can copy then to a Z one.
Just to clarify, I start Component Configuration HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP. In the editor for WD ABAP Componenet Configuration, I do a copy, rename my config to have a Z name and place it in a custom package. I then make my changes and save. How does the WD Application now to use my custom Component Configuration? In another thread, I saw a reference to starting the Applicaton Configuration in Administration Mode. Is that something different? Thanks for your assistance on this as it is all new to me.
in Step 4, in the configuration name you ll replace your Z Config name there and so it will pick the Z one.
Hello Sid,
Excellent Work done..
Short. Sweet. Easy to follow. Nice work.
Alternatively it's also possible to use customising to hide/rename without touching the component config.
Hi George,
Can you show me how to do this customizing to hide the component?
Thanks,
Idi
Hi Idi,
I provided more details in a comment further down this thread:
Hope that helps.
George
Thank you George, that is one option.
But I actually, what I was looking for is customizing in terms of functional configuration.
Always a pleasure reading your posts and blogs since they are so very practically oriented. There is no useless blah blah, it's plain, simple and understandable.
This blog is really very nice and simple. Good work.
did you activate the switch for MSS ? Can you check it?
It should be available.
Hi Siddharth,
I found that the ER-HR_MSS (MSS Add on 1.0) is not deployed and not activated in my ECC.
I think this will the main reason behind, I didn't find PAOC_MSS (Package) in SE80.
Thank you.
Oh that explains it then, Please deploy it and you ll see the package then
Siddharth,
I am new to this and trying to follow your instructions. We are on Ehp6, I have created a new configuration for HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP, (Z_ HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP) but cannot see how I get the component (FPM_OVP_COMPONENT) to call this Z... configuration, as it always calls the SAP default. Vince
The top level configuration is typically selected via the property sheet of the top level iView.
We have EHP5 + MSS add-on.
Standard iView is located (within portal Content Administration):
Content Provided by SAP->line_manager->Add-on for Manager Self-Service->iViews
->Home Page
Application=HRMSS_HOMEPAGE
Config=HRMSS_HOMEPAGE
When you launch the editor for the HRMSS_HOMEPAGE application configuration,
it points to the HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP component configuration.
If you create a custom ZHRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP component configuration
also create a ZHRMSS_HOMEPAGE application configuration and point this to your
custom component config.
In the portal change the iView property to use your application config instead of the standard. We do this by copying the standard MSS role to a custom area within Content Administration and paste as "delta link" that way you can change values but the rest of the values feed through/update from the SAP delivered content.
Thanks George this worked well. vince
or simple way is which i already mentioned abobe if you want to avoid Z configs
checked the button to hide the element. In general, the procedure is
to check the Hidden Element checkbox to hide the UIBB.
and ensure Note 1524767 is implemented in your system ie STEP 4
If you create Z configuraiton ie after copying from standard, you need to replace that in
HRMSS_HOMEPAGE_OVP

It's a very useful doc ℹ
Hello Siddharth,
I have enhanced the component configuration and made the two views hide.
But I coudnt understand from where to hide the birthday and anniversary tab from reminder of dates view.
Also birthday and anniversary tab is showing reminder of dates data. What could be the reason?
Thanks,
Seema
Hi Siddharth,
These two values are already disable in this component config.
even after that, i am getting task monitoring data in birthday and anniversary tab.
Second thins is to remove the tag, i have copied component config HRMSS_TEAM_PAGE_OVP and make the tab invisible but how to attach this z component config to application config HRMSS_TEAM_PAGE.
Thanks,
Seema
