Since in the past couple of weeks I saw many threads and questions regarding the process of allowing anonymous users to view WPC content in NW7.3 Portal, I decided to write a blog post (my very first one 🙂 ).

Hope this post will help you:

Allowing anonymous users to view WPC content in NW7.3 Portal

1.  Add the “authentication scheme” property to the WPC design time page template in System Admin ->      Content Model management -> Property Classification.

1.a – Locate the “authentication scheme” property.

1.b – Move the “authentication scheme” property, remember to save.

2. Change the “authentication scheme” property on the runtime toolbar iView to “anonymous”:

Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> Admin Interfaces -> Admin iView Templates -> Portal Editors -> WPC -> Runtime Toolbar.

*  While changing the “authentication scheme” property on the runtime toolbar iView, remember to save.

3. Change the “authentication scheme” property for the page you want to expose to anonymous users, it is located in “Advanced Properties”.

4. Set “Read” + “End User” permissions for “Anonymous Users” group in the “Authoring permissions” of the area that is connected to the portal role which is visible to anonymous users.

*  Make sure the permissions were saved successfully.

5. While “Area Management” tab is closed navigate to the portal role that the area is connected to and make sure that the page and all of his children has the property “authentication scheme” on “anonymous”.

And that’s it, you’re done.

Here are the results:

I Hope this Guide helped you.

Thanks for a great guide, just one thing seems to be referred to incorrectly.

Under step two you state the following path

Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> Admin Content -> Admin Interfaces -> Admin iView Templates -> Portal Editors

But Admin Interfaces is not a sub folder of Admin Content, it is actually a sub folder of Content Provided by SAP.

    So the path should be

Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> Admin Interfaces -> Admin iView Templates -> Portal Editors

      Hi Roy,

WPC doesn’t support standalone pages unfortunately, it’s all based on a page to be connected to a role.

      Best regards,

      Saar

        HI Saar

i was actually able to run the page as standalone by linking it to WPC 2.0 iview template.

it runs fine when I’m logged into the portal however when I’m not and go to the iview pcd URL directly I am being asked to autheticate first then the page runs fine.

I Changed the iview authentication to anonymous and carried out all the other steps in this blog but I’m still getting an authentication screen.

        AAny ideas why?

                Nope.

single WPC page inside an area.

the area has read authoring permissions to anonymous plus end user ticket

in end user permissions of the area it is set to manual (since it is not linked to a role) and also has anonymous group assigned.

THe the page has the same authoring permission settings as the area and is linked to an anonymous WPC 2.0 iview template.

                Dear Saar,

i follow your all steps which u provided by you,

To create a page from WPC page you need to do the following:

                1. In the area management role create an area under “Staging Area”. (right click >> “new area”).

                2. Create a page under the newly created area. (right click >> “new page”).

                3. Publish the new page. (left click >> Icon with small green arrow on it).

                4. Publish the area (left click >> Icon with small green arrow on it).

After this you should see both icons (area and page) have changed.

                5. Copy the area ID (left click on the area >> text box on the right titled “Area ID”).

                6. In the content administration role create a new role.

                7. open the newly created role.

                8. click new >> connection. connection name = doesn’t matter, connection target = area ID.

                click ok.

                9. set the role as entry point.

                10. Assign the role to the wanted users.

when i assign role to testuser the page is not displayed.i m using 7.3 sp5 .

                Please Reply me ASAP.

                Thanks in advance

                Regards,

                Prashant
