Innovation is finally happening in retail stores - surprisingly, at the point of sale.

For the past couple of decades, companies using SAP Point of Sale software traditionally use big cash registers bolted down at a checkout.

More recently, SAP introduced enhanced POS capabilities to support modern, rugged handhelds based on Windows mobile offerings, like those MC3190 and MC75A devices from Motorola - you've all seen them used for retail inventory.

Now, we've seen some great extensions, where partners like Agilysys and Red Iron have extended the SAP POS to support Apple iOS devices.  Much nicer to use, and its been a big hit with clients like Sephora and more.

If you'd like to see it, join us in the SAP office in New York City on April 17th, 2012. RSVP here:  http://www.sap.com/mk/get/Q2INNYHPE223R?SOURCEID=email_invite&CTID=9712593

This is an ideal example where SAP Sybase Afaria does device management, in conjunction with SAP POS software and partner assets.

With the evolution of POS, store associates can serve customers anywhere in and around the shop - never leaving the customers side.  Additional solutions like in-store Merchandise and Inventory Management (MIM) typically run well on appropriate mobile devices, and can boost staff productivity.
