30 hours, 1 challenge, 12 participants, 2 teams, 2 prototypes – the successful Pre-DKOM InnoJam in Palo Alto has come to an end. Photos of the event can be found here.
The event took place on March 12-13 in COIL in the Palo Alto campus. The focus of the event, entitled “Mobilize SAP”, was on building exciting, beautiful, and relevant mobile applications – applications that SAP employees will be able to use everyday. The two teams chose to work on the same challenge – “How might we create a more convenient way to book rooms?”.
The participants received training in Design Thinking methodologies and SAP Mobile technologies which they utilized to design and build their solutions. They worked with Design Thinking coaches, end-users, and technical experts onsite. After 30 hours of mingling, observing, interviewing, learning, huddling, hacking, sweating, and presenting, the two prototypes were validated by judges and the winning solution was chosen.
Congratulations to team “Let’s Meet!”, for winning the Pre-DKOM InnoJam in Palo Alto and the 2012 DKOM Demo Jam in San Jose! Their mobile application allows a user to book a conference room in one to three clicks, for a meeting that either needs to happen now or later. For those of us who do not have smart phones, it allows room booking via text messaging. They used SUP for the mobile app, Sybase 365 for the SMS integration and and IDES ECC as backend. We are going to work with our IT team to figure out how to make this cool application available inside SAP.
This is the first InnoJam event where Design Thinking was introduced. It is also the first time that an InnoJam team won first place at the Demo Jam. Coincidence? We don’t think so. Design Thinking works!
Thanks again to everyone who made this event successful.
Hope to see you at the next InnoJam!
